A caregiver in the home at every hour
24/7 care means a Luxe caregiver is in your parent’s home around the clock, day and night. Luxe arranges it as two 12-hour caregiver shifts each day, one for the day and one for the night, so someone is always awake, alert, and present. It is the right choice for a parent who needs frequent help through the night, who is at risk of falling when getting up alone, or who has advanced dementia and cannot safely be left, even briefly.
Luxe Homecare is licensed by the State of California and accredited by the Joint Commission. Every caregiver on a 24/7 schedule is a Luxe employee, screened, trained, and supported by a case manager the family can reach at any hour.
How 24/7 care is arranged
Each day is covered by two caregivers working 12-hour shifts. The day caregiver handles the active hours: personal care, meals, appointments, and company. The night caregiver stays awake through the night for bathroom trips, repositioning, medication timing, and reassurance, and is there the moment your parent needs them. A small, consistent team of caregivers rotates across the week so the faces stay familiar, every shift change includes a handoff, and the case manager oversees the whole schedule.
Families always know who is coming, and they meet each caregiver before care starts.
What 24/7 caregivers do
- Personal care: bathing, dressing, grooming, and safe transfers
- Night-time support: help getting up, repositioning, and staying calm and safe through the night
- Medication reminders on the exact schedule the physician set
- Meal preparation and help with eating and hydration
- Light housekeeping, laundry, and keeping the home safe
- Companionship by day, and transportation to appointments and outings
Who 24/7 care is right for
A parent in the later stages of dementia, where wandering and confusion do not stop at bedtime. A parent home from the hospital who cannot yet be safely alone at night. A parent who has fallen, or is likely to, when getting up in the dark. A spouse who has been doing the caregiving alone and can no longer sustain it. And families receiving hospice care who want a caregiver present every hour so their parent can stay at home in comfort.
How it starts
A member of our nursing staff or a case manager visits the home for a free assessment and builds the care plan with the family. For 24/7 care, the assessment settles the details that matter most: what the nights actually look like, which caregivers fit your parent, and how the handoffs will run. The caregivers are introduced before the first shift, and the case manager stays involved throughout.
Questions families ask about 24/7 care
Is someone awake at night?
Yes. The night caregiver works a 12-hour shift and stays awake for all of it. Your parent is never alone, and no one is sleeping on the job.
How many caregivers will we see?
Two caregivers cover each day, one on the day shift and one on the night shift, drawn from a small team that rotates across the week. Families meet every caregiver before they start, so there are no strangers at the door.
Can 24/7 care be combined with home health or hospice?
Yes. Luxe provides home care, home health, and hospice under one roof, so nursing visits, therapy, or hospice support are coordinated with the 24/7 caregivers by the same team.
Does long-term care insurance cover 24/7 care?
Most long-term care policies cover in-home care up to a daily benefit amount, and many families use their policy for around-the-clock care. Luxe reviews the policy and files and manages the claim for the family.
What happens at shift change?
The day and night caregivers overlap briefly to hand off: how the day went, what was eaten, any changes worth watching, and anything the family asked for. Nothing is left to memory, and your parent is never without a caregiver in the room.
