If your parent fell and cannot be alone, we can help
A fall is often the moment a family realizes a parent cannot safely be home alone anymore. Luxe Homecare provides in-home caregivers after a fall, and a case manager starts arranging care the moment you call. Our nursing staff assesses your parent at home, at no cost, and builds a care plan around what they need to stay safe, now and as their needs change.
Luxe Homecare is licensed by the State of California and accredited by the Joint Commission, and every caregiver is a Luxe employee, screened and trained.
What happens after a fall
Most falls do not end at the emergency room. Even when nothing is broken, the real risk comes afterward: getting up at night alone, managing stairs, showering, remembering new medications, and the loss of confidence that leads to a second fall. More than one in four adults over 65 falls each year, and falling once doubles the chance of falling again.
The families who call Luxe after a fall usually need three things at once: someone in the home right away, a clear picture of how much help is actually needed, and a plan that keeps their parent safe from here on.
What a Luxe caregiver does after a fall
- Stays with your parent so they are never alone when the chance of a second fall is highest
- Helps with walking, transfers, bathing, and dressing safely
- Keeps track of medication reminders, including anything new from the hospital
- Prepares meals and keeps the home clear of tripping hazards
- Provides transportation to follow-up appointments and physical therapy
- Reports changes to the family and the case manager
How it starts
Call Luxe Homecare and a case manager will speak with you right away, at any hour. A member of our nursing staff or a case manager visits the home for a free assessment, speaks with your parent’s physician or the hospital discharge team when helpful, and builds the care plan with you. We then match a caregiver whose experience and personality fit your parent, introduce them to the family, and care begins.
Questions families ask after a fall
How fast can a caregiver start after a fall?
Quickly. Call and a case manager begins arranging care right away, including after hours. The nursing assessment is scheduled as soon as the family is ready, and care follows from there.
Do we need care around the clock?
Not always. Many families start with a caregiver for the daytime hours and evenings, then adjust. The nursing assessment tells you honestly how much help is needed, and the plan grows as your parent’s needs change.
What if my parent refuses help after a fall?
This is common, and it usually comes from fear rather than stubbornness. Starting with a few hours a day and one practical task, rather than full personal care, lets your parent get used to the caregiver before more help comes into it.
Can Luxe help with recovery after a hospital stay?
Yes. Luxe provides both home care and home health services, so if your parent needs skilled nursing or physical therapy at home after the hospital, it can be coordinated by the same team.
Does insurance cover care after a fall?
It depends on the type of coverage. Medicare may cover skilled home health after a hospital stay but not daily personal care. Long-term care insurance often covers in-home caregivers, and Luxe manages those claims for families. Our team will walk you through it.
